A house has many different rooms and areas. Each part has its own special use!

🛋️ Items in a House

Different rooms have different furniture and items:

Armchair
A comfortable chair with armrests

Sofa
A long soft seat for 2-3 people

Cushion
Soft pillow for sitting comfort

Table
Flat surface with legs

Bed
Furniture for sleeping

Wardrobe
Large cupboard for clothes

Lamp
Light for reading

Refrigerator
Keeps food cold and fresh

There is an armchair in the living room.
I put the cushions on the sofa.

📍 Prepositions of Place

Prepositions help us describe WHERE things are located:

• In front of - before something
  The car is in front of the house.
• Between - in the middle of two things
  The table is between the two chairs.
• Beside - next to something
  The lamp is beside the bed.
• On - touching the top surface
  The book is on the table.
• In - inside something
  The clothes are in the wardrobe.
• Under - below something
  The cat is under the table.
• Behind - at the back of something
  The garden is behind the house.

Remember: Use "in front of" (3 words) and "beside" (not "besides") when describing positions!

Common clothing items:

🍓 Using "There is" and "There are"

We use different phrases for singular (one) and plural (many) items:

There is - for ONE thing (singular)
There are - for MORE THAN ONE thing (plural)

✅ Singular Examples (There is / There's):

There is some milk in the fridge.
There's a cat on the sofa.
There is an apple on the table.

✅ Plural Examples (There are):

There are some strawberries in the bowl.
There are three bedrooms in my house.
There are many books on the shelf.

Special Note: Use "There is" with uncountable nouns like milk, water, rice, bread - even though we can't count them, we treat them as singular!
